As a general rule, for bikepackng trips a hardtail mountain bike is best.

The terrain is often possible on a gravel bike but it will be much less comfortable.

There is no getting away from hills in Scotland and the area surrounding Comrie Croft is no different.
We cannot take the hills away, and they are part of what makes our area so beautiful. However, we can go at a steady pace, it is never a race to the top and it is perfectly OK to take your bike for a walk up a hill.

All of our trips are designed to be off-road. There may be some sections of on-road riding but this is limited as much as possible.
You MUST be able to ride a bike change gear, brake and pedal efficiently and either have some off-road riding experience or have a ‘can-do’ attitude.
Some trips go further and/or higher on more technical terrain.

This is Scotland. You are highly likely to get wet, to experience wind and there may be snow. Equally it could be absolutely glorious. This is all part of the adventure, you just need to be prepared and keep your sense of humour.
In the event of extreme weather where there is a danger to life the trip will be cancelled and alternative dates offered.
